“Combining imagined home movies, true stories, tall tales and her own playful nature, Ozeki breaks the rules of documentary filmmaking and is all the better for it.”

— Barry Walters, San Francisco Examiner

After the death of her grandmother, Ruth Ozeki Lounsbury travels to Japan to collect her remains. But she's surprised to find that, in Japan, cremation doesn't render the body into ash; what Lounsbury is left with are pieces of her grandmother's bones. Five years after returning to the U.S. with this grim cargo, she begins work on this documentary in which she tries to figure out what to do with the bones. Along the way she wrestles with her own family history and mixed racial background.
