The Lake Forest Civic Orchestra was formed as an amateur orchestra, formerly known as North Suburban Symphony, in August 1988 and celebrated its 25th season in the fall of 2012. Our current roster includes over 50 players from around Lake County and beyond. Our musicians’ backgrounds are very diverse: lawyers, teachers, doctors, business professionals, and scientists play alongside college and high school students and retirees.

We are dedicated to the principle that music, both its appreciation and its performance, can be a lifetime activity, and we are grateful that the Gorton Community Center has been our long-time partner in helping us to achieve this. The Lake Forest Civic Orchestra provides opportunities for amateur musicians of all ages to play standard works of the symphonic repertoire under skilled conductors.

We perform four concerts during our season on Sundays at 4:00 pm in the Gorton Auditorium.
